SuperGaming is partnering with Olympic shooter Heena Sidhu for Indus Battle Royale
Pune-based Indian game developer SuperGaming is teaming up with Olympic pistol shooter Heena Sidhu to feature her as a character in their upcoming battle royale game Indus.
Heena Sidhu is the first Indian pistol shooter to top the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) world rankings and is also the first Indian to win a gold medal in an ISSF World Cup final.
“I was surprised to see so much care and attention to detail from an Indian game studio, especially when it comes to shooting and gunplay and how all of that translates into induction,” said Heena Sidhu. He added: “As an athlete and an avid gamer, I noticed that, which made working with SuperGaming even easier.”
SuperGaming claims that Heena’s in-game character is inspired by her real life, and her “backstory forms an important part of the Indus universe.”
“Indus Heena has the right aspects of my attitude and personality,” said Heena Sidhu. “I hope you enjoy playing as him as much as I had fun working with SuperGaming to bring him into the game.”
Besides Heena, SuperGaming has also announced Mor-Ni – another in-game character whose backstory is tied to the game’s history. Based on Indus heritage, the Mor-Ni are a revered folk hero among the Jaks – an intelligent race that once lived in the Indus.
“Mor-Ni is a testament to India’s rich history and a look to the future,” said Roby John, CEO of SuperGaming. “The initial idea was to try to answer what Indian culture, such as established, recognizable symbols like the Indian peacock and Indo-fashion elements, would look like through the lens of Indo-futurism, while being heavily inspired by the idea of creating a strong female character who exudes elegance, glamour, pride and confidence.”
Both new characters will be available at launch when Indus is released on Android, iOS, and iPadOS. Android pre-registrations for the game are already underway, and iOS and iPadOS registrations are expected to happen soon.
